You can simply click on the Windows Media Player icon and start playing your media files right away. This means that you don't have to download or install any additional software to start playing media files. Thanks again. One of the biggest advantages of Windows Media Player is that it c omes pre-installed on Windows PCs. One last thing, it did take it over an hour to fix it but it did the job. Yeah! If it wasn't so late I would grab my guitar and play along. I am playing Johnny Be Good on my itunes and it is working too. "LOL" Joe and mikie you both have made my day. You have made me very happy and if it wasn't so late I would be doing a dance right now. Thank you Joe for all of your help, this has been like this for 2 years and now it is fixed. Thank you mikie for the Quick Time download website it was a big help. Was that OK to do?Īfter it removed Quick Time out of Add/Remove programs I then went back to this site and downloaded the newest version from the site that mikie gave me and it worked without any problems. I also downloaded the fix it to my desktop in case I need to use it again. I am pleased to tell you that Fix it fixed the problem. I was able to download the newest Quick Time to my new Laptop and it works great but if I do something to this desktop would it affect my Laptop? Would the newest version show up on the Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility? I don't want to remove the wrong Quick Time version and mess up the one that I have on my Laptop or is that even possible? I'm not trying to be difficult here, I am just trying to understand how this will work on a computer that is networked. I wouldn't have questioned that before I got my Laptop, but now since the people I purchased my Laptop from networked the two computers together, I have no real understanding of Networking and what it might do. Which one would be the easiest to use or are they the same type of program? I also have Revo Uninstaller Pro on my Windows XP desktop. Since my new Laptop with windows 7 is Networked to this Windows XP computer would it do something to the Laptop Quick Time player which has the newest version on it on my Laptop? I don't want to lose the Quick Time Player on my Laptop. Joe I don't mind trying that, but I do have a question before I do. Why is it if you have one computer networked to another that you can't delete things from the host computer which I think would be my desktop Windows XP? I just wanted to replace the old Quick Time with the newest one. I removed the check mark and it left the system tray. I right clicked on the icon and found where it had a check mark in putting the icon in the system tray. I am leaving this part of it because I found the solution on how to get it off of the system tray. I can live with it the way that it is but, I have noticed that the Quick Time icon is showing up on my System Tray. Quick Time works it just won't update from my Windows XP Machine, it was that way before I got my Laptop. Since the techs networked this computer to my Laptop I am thinking that is why it won't remove it. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Quick Time.msi'in the box below.īelow that message it has Use source: C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings I get a message that says The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. I am unable to remove quick Time from my Windows XP desktop. So how do I get itunes in windows 7 to play my midi songs? Then I thought I could take those Midi songs from itunes and put them in a folder, but in all of my searches it seems that I can't do that. I am thinking I should download the same version 7.6.9 that I have so it will stay compatible with the one that I have on XP. Now if I download Quicktime, which version should I download the newest one or the 7.6.9 version. I don't understand why it is saying that. I get a message telling me that it is unable to play the video without Quicktime. I can play all of my music midi files in itunes on windows XP but I cannot play them in Windows 7. The itune version on Windows 7 is also 10.6. The version for itunes in XP is 10.6 and the version for Quicktime is 7.6.9 year is 2010. I have itunes and Quicktime on my XP machine but I only have itunes on my laptop. The tech guys networked my desktop to my laptop and added my stuff to the laptop. I just purchased a new Laptop with windows 7.
